Privacy policy
Last updated 11 October 2026. RYDU is operated by Jayesh Sharma, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India.
This policy explains what personal data the RYDU app (for riders), the RYDU Driver app and this website collect, why, who sees it, and your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Jayesh Sharma is the data fiduciary responsible for it.
What we collect from riders
- Phone number, to sign you in with a one-time code.
- Name, gender and chosen 3D character, to show you correctly to your driver and on the map. Gender is optional.
- Location, while you use the app, to set your pickup, show drivers near you and follow your trip.
- Trips: pickup, drop-off, stops, times, route, fare and how you paid.
- People you add: names and phone numbers of emergency contacts and of people you book rides for. Only add people who are fine with it.
- Messages you send your driver or our support team in the app.
- Payments: payment status and reference from our payment partner. We never see or store your card details, bank PIN or UPI PIN.
What we collect from drivers
- Phone number, name, gender and character.
- Documents: photos of your driving licence, vehicle registration certificate (RC) and insurance, and the details on them, to check you may drive.
- Vehicle: type and number plate.
- Location while you are online, including when the app is in the background or the screen is off, so riders nearby can be matched with you and can see you arriving. A notification shows the whole time. We don't collect your location when you are offline.
- Earnings and payouts, and the UPI ID we pay you on.
- Messages with riders and our support team.
Collected automatically
- A push notification token for your phone, to send ride updates.
- Basic server logs (time, app version, errors) to keep the service working and secure.
We don't use advertising IDs, we don't show ads from ad networks, we don't read your contacts, photos or files beyond the document photos you choose, and we don't sell personal data.
Why we use it
- To run rides and parcel deliveries: matching, navigation, pickup codes, fares and payments.
- For safety: verifying drivers, trip sharing, SOS, and looking into complaints.
- To prevent fraud and misuse, and to keep accounts secure.
- To support you and send updates about your rides.
- To meet legal duties, such as tax records and lawful requests from authorities.
Who sees it
- Your driver or rider, during a trip: name, character, pickup and drop-off, live location, and (for drivers) vehicle and number plate. Chat in the app doesn't show phone numbers.
- People you share a trip with: anyone with a trip link you send can follow that one ride.
- Service providers who work for us, only to run RYDU: Amazon Web Services (servers in Mumbai, India), Ola Maps (maps, addresses and routes), Cashfree Payments (payments and payouts), Google Firebase (push notifications) and our SMS provider (sign-in codes).
- Authorities, when Indian law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
How long we keep it
- Account and profile data: while your account is open.
- Ride and payment records: up to 8 years, as Indian tax and accounting law requires.
- Driver documents: while you drive with RYDU, and deleted when your account is deleted.
